Mid-East woode furniture style coming on strong

Walking into 1D exhibition area, a brown-colored building promoting the Middle East Dubai style will immediately catch the eyes of visitors. This is the exhibition area of Gangyuan Furniture Co Ltd (Taizhou) from East China¡¯s Zhejiang Province.

The area is so big that it seems as if it is the site of a fantasyland. It is divided into different sections according to a different series of products, including the study series, suites series and restaurant series.

Unlike the exhibition halls for classical furniture, Gangyuan adopted ivory as its main color, giving one a strong feeling of coziness and comfort.

A leading designer of the company surnamed Hu told the Express that the color is the result of the company¡¯s long-time research and is now quite unique.

At the very center of the exhibition hall lie the¡°152 series¡±, consisting of a study, suites, and restaurant series. The main characteristics of this series are its adoption of the aging technique and the triangle shape at the top of furniture with a bronzing cover.

Talking about the design of this series, Hu said that he got the inspiration from the Baroque architectural style of the Middle East.

Hu insisted that furniture design shares a lot with architecture design, hence comes the variation of this Baroque style in the 152 series.

Hu said that Gangyuan pays a great deal of attention to not only the style, but also to its function. Take the study series of the 152 for an example, it can serve as a bookshelf, a wine cellar as well as a vase holder.

When asked about sales on the opening day, Hu couldn¡¯t provide a definite answer but that it was positive. Pressed further, he admitted that he himself also took the chance to view and learn from his counterparts from elsewhere at the fair.

As a top-rate designer, he is more focused on style than worrying about the opening day sales. ¡°If the style is right, the sales will come.¡±

He pointed out that as the furniture industry develops, the craftsmanship will tend to be more and more delicate and functions will become further diversified. So a combination of beauty and function, comfort and environment-friendly aspects will be the future of the industry.
