Syfer's latest devices offerthe possibility of choosing

Innovative developments in ceramics materials and manufacturingtechnology have led to significant extensions in the range of highvoltage multilayer, surface mount chip capacitors, available fromSyfer Technology. The ability to reduce package size or increasecapacitance range in the same package size will prove critical tomeeting today's tight design constraints.
Already one of the most extensive high voltage capacitors familiesavailable, Syfer now offers the highest capacitance values in theworld for MLCCs at 500V dc and higher. Devices in the range from500V to 1.5kV are of particular interest to power supply and dc/dcconverter designers in the telecoms, military and aerospacemarkets.

For those seeking higher capacitance without increasing packagesize, the 1206 1.5kV capacitor, for example, has now been increasedto an impressive 10nF, up from 2.7nF. Many devices offer double thecapacitance of earlier versions. The 1812 1kV part has beenextended from 56nF to 100nF.

If physical space is critical, then Syfers latest devices offerthe possibility of choosing a smaller case size, resulting in notonly reduced board space requirements, but lower cost too. Forexample a 1kV, 1nF capacitor, previously offered in a 1206 package,is now available in the 0805 case size, and a 1kV 10nF part,previously in a 1812 footprint, is now offered in a 1206 package.

The recent extensions give engineers a broader choice of highvoltage devices to optimise their designs for performance andpackage size, while ensuring they are cost effective to meet tightbudgetary constraints.

For added reliability, Syfer offers its FlexiCap polymertermination option, as an alternative to a standard platedtermination. FlexiCap accommodates a greater degree of board flexthan a conventional termination. Devices meet RoHS standards withlead-free terminations. However, for exempt applications, versionswith tin-lead contacts can be supplied. To meet the most stringentquality standards, Syfer can also offer additional testingservices
